Secretary Sebelius met with Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.  The meeting continued a conversation on the U.S. – India Health Initiative, begun at the 63rd World Assembly in May 2010.  Both countries expressed a desire to strengthen the continuing partnership in health and to establish common goals as the U.S. – India Health Initiative moves forward.  More>>


June 18, 2010 - U.S. Government Support for Global Health Efforts

The U.S. government continues to lay the groundwork for efforts under the U.S. Global Health Initiative (GHI), announcing the first round of “GHI Plus” countries, as well as the program’s governance structure.  GHI is a six-year, $63 billion initiative to help partner countries improve measurable health outcomes by strengthening health systems and building upon proven results.  More>>

Secretary Sebelius participated in the 2nd U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Beijing, China. Her counterparts included Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke, U.S. Trade Representative Ronald Kirk, Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors Christina Romer, and other U.S. and Chinese government leaders.  More>>

Secretary Sebelius welcomed John Dalli, recently named Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection in the European Commission, and his delegation to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
